Cabra National School

Description
Design, co-ordination, management and construction of a new 2 storey, 16 class-room rapid build secondary school and all associated site works. The schedule of accommodation includes 16 standard secondary school classrooms, two stories general purpose hall with associated storage and servery areas, this general purpose hall can be used by the whole community for indoor sports, recreation, meeting etc.
The building also includes numerous toilets, 2 stairwells, hydraulic lift, staff room, library, resource rooms and ancillary accommodation.
The internal finishes include the complete fit out of the building i.e. ceilings joinery, painting, flooring and all fixed furniture and fitting.
Externally, included the transformation from a 2 acre green field site into a fully serviced building with all the necessary underground drainage and services installed, the building has a fully functional rain water harvesting system in place and has extensive hard and soft landscaping including ball courts, play areas, car parking, access roads and laydown areas.

Gaelscoil Ui Fhiaich

Description
Sammon Contracting started in October 2010 with the construction of
Gaelscoil Uí Fhiaich in Maynooth, Co. Kildare. Gaelscoil Uí Fhiaich is
an All-Irish Primary School for boys and girls serving Maynooth and the
surrounding areas. The site for the new classroom school was where the current
temporary accommodation is located. The project involved the construction of a 16 classroom, 2 storey generic repeat design primary school which caters for children with special needs, a general purpose hall, additional resource rooms and an external play area.
The project also included removal
of existing classrooms, construction of play areas, car parking and
associated site works and installation of all utilities including works
to a public road.

Description

Star of the Sea National School

Description
This project, in the middle of a busy urban thoroughfare involves a 16 classroom school using the Generic Repeat Design Methodology rolled out by the Department of Education & Skills. Despite the difficulties encountered through tight access and a large footfall in the area, the project is running well ahead of schedule.
The project includes the building of a 2,450 sq. m school including 16 classrooms, library, teachers’ rooms, and ancillary accommodation along with substantial site works which embrace all recent green technologies in order to provide the end-users with an easily maintained structure.

Abu Dhabi Future School Program - Mubarak Bin Mohammed

Description
Developed under ADEC’s 10 Year Strategic Plan. The Mubarak Bin Mohammed school, designed by
Broadway Malyan, is 18,133 m2 and will have the capacity to cater for between 1225 and
1500 students.
The mixed-gender school, a Cycle 1 school (KG to Grade 4), incorporates the Estidama pearl rating system
and includes sustainability features, such as energy efficient air
conditioning systems, water saving devises. The required electricity
daily consumption in classrooms will be generated on the school site.
The school design includes 45 classrooms, state-of-the-art technology features, sport
facilities, 500 seater auditoriums, labs and ICT rooms, dedicated
classrooms for music and art, libraries and other spaces which can be
used by the community after school hours. The school is very
eco-friendly with PV panels for solar energy, solar panels for hot
water, eco-tree and vertical gardens.

Description
Developed under ADEC’s 10 Year Strategic Plan. The Maryam Bint Sultan school, designed by DEWAN Architects, is 17,040 m2 and will have the capacity to cater for between 1225 and 1500 students.
The Al Towayya girls school (Cylce 3 - Grades 10 - 12) incorporates the Estidama pearl rating system and includes sustainability features, such as energy efficient air conditioning systems, water saving devises.
The school design includes 40 classrooms, state-of-the-art technology features, sport facilities, swimming pools, 400 seater auditoriums, labs and ICT rooms, dedicated classrooms for music and art, libraries and other spaces which can be used by the community after school hours.
Each educational unit is comprised of four or five classrooms with a laboratory, multi-purpose learning area, teachers’ office and restrooms. An External shaded classroom which is part of each learning community, gives additional opportunities for untraditional communication.

Donabate Community College

Description
This design & build school caters for 1000 pupils and the design includes modern state-of-the art facilities. The school has 2 stories and is triangular in form, and includes 5 large science rooms (100sq m each), 4 computer rooms, 27 general class rooms, 2 lecture rooms, woodwork and technical drawing rooms, rooms for music and dance, learning support, guidance, maths, 2 home economics rooms, a religion room, word processing and technology rooms, engineering rooms, and 14 teacher offices.
There is also 200 sqm of changing rooms and showers, 6 ball courts and 72 car parking spaces. The new school has a special needs unit which is a “flagship for Dublin”, in addition, there is a state-of-the-art all-weather
hockey pitch that complies with international Hockey Federation
standards, a sensory garden and a cabbage garden.

Gorey Post Primary School

Description
The unique characteristic about the design is that the school has a permanent and temporary element which posed some challenges in the design stage. The temporary part of the school can be relocated when the need arises.
The school included 16 classrooms, offices, administration space, pastoral offices, multi-purpose room (all wheelchair accessible) and break out spaces. Fully fitted science labs, home economics, arts & crafts and woodwork rooms.
Externally the project has extensive hard and soft landscaping including car parking for 34 cars, ballcourts and play areas. The project was constructed using finished precast concrete wall panels structural steel roof which
supports a composite roof panel and acrylic render on external insulation. Internally, the finishes include a combination of timber, carpet and vinyl flooring, finished joinery with acoustic seals and suspended ceilings with acoustic properties.

Scoil An Duinninigh

Description
Sammon Contracting completed the construction of the new 16 classroom school in Swords, County Dublin ahead of schedule. The new school will have a general purposes hall and is a Generic Repeat Design (GRD) school, where everything is taught through the medium of Irish language.
Works included demolition and the re-build of this 16 classroom and all the associated civil and site works.

Trinity College - Hub Building
Location

Description
Sammon Woodcraft completed the cladding of the Trinity Long Room Hub in Trinity College in Dublin in June 2010.
The works included seminar spaces, offices and lecture theatres. Sammon’s team worked on walnut timber cladding for the entire interior of the building from basements through to the 3rd floor. Works also included shelving units, acoustic doors and fitted furniture.
This is the second fit-out project that Sammon Group completed in Trinity College Dublin; in 2006 Sammon Contracting was main contractor for fitting out a number of the lecture theatres.
