Mukund Patel Joins Sammon Group
Mukund Patel has joined Sammon Group as Business Development Director for the United Kingdom where he will be overseeing all aspects of business development activities for Sammon Contracting UK Limited.
Mukund is well known in the international Education sector. He comes from GEMS Education in Dubai where he served as Chief Officer, Educational Infrastructure, responsible for establishing new schools in MENASA region with particular emphasis on providing state of art facilities in innovative and inspiring buildings with excellent teaching and learning environments for pupils and teachers. He worked on new school projects in Middle East, India and China.

Prior to joining GEMS, Mr. Patel was Head of Schools Capital at the UK Ministry of Education’s DCSF - Department of Children, School and Families where he advised ministers and officials of the DCSF on all aspects of educational buildings including development of inspirational and exciting school buildings, standards of school buildings, sustainability issues including design of carbon neutral schools and the cost of school buildings. He was involved in development of Building Schools of the Future and Primary Capital Programmes and was responsible for developing ideas and vision for the Schools of the Future.
Mr. Patel has spoken at various national and international conferences
on design of school buildings. He was the Chairman of OECD Programme
for Education Buildings based in Paris from 2003 to 2008, and from 2004
to 2006 was President of the Society of Chief Architects in Local
Authorities. He has also been President of Society of Chief Engineers
in Local Government and was a member of Government Urban Green Spaces
task force and Zero Carbon School Task Force. He is a Trustee of
Learning through Landscape. Mukund Patel qualified as an engineer from
London University. He worked with consultants in London before joining
the Ministry of Education.
