First School Handed Over In 2012

Sammon Contracting marked an excellent beginning of 2012 with the announcement that the company handed over their first school in 2012. In line with an extremely successful 2011, which ensured that the company handed over 12 schools in Ireland and the United Arab Emirates, the primary school in Cabra confirms the company’s commitment to deliver world class learning facilities for future generations.

The primary school in Cabra, County Dublin, was handed over at the end of January to the Department of Education & Skills. The project includes 16 standard primary school classrooms, two storey general purpose hall with associated storage and servery areas. The general purpose hall can be used by the whole community for indoor sports, recreation, meeting etc. The building also includes stairwells, hydraulic lift, staff room, library, resource rooms and ancillary accommodation.

The construction consisted of externally insulated precast panels and a steel framed roof which supports a composite panel roof and acrylic render finish. The internal finishes include the  complete fit out of the building i.e. ceilings joinery, painting, flooring and all fixed furniture and fitting.

Sammon started with the construction of the school in August 2011 and the Sammon teams working on the project include Project Manager David Breen and Quantity Surveyor Dan King.
