Sammon Contracting, a rapidly expanding construction company has an immediate vacancy for an Accounts Assistant. The successful candidate will work as part of close-knit team performing a variety of accounting tasks and duties.  The person will need to be flexible, able to work under pressure, have a confident telephone manner and be able to prioritize work. The candidate will have a good understanding of accounting systems. At least two years’ experience working in an accounts department is required.  IATI qualification and a working knowledge of Excel is necessary and experience of construction accounting and the COINS accounting system would be a distinct advantage.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

·         Raise contract sales invoices and monitor receipts

·         Input of purchase invoices and delivery dockets

·         Process weekly supplier and sub-contractor payments including ROS compliance and dealing with RCT & RCV issues

·         Review system accruals to tie in with supplier reconciliations

·         Respond to supplier/sub-contractor e-mail  and telephone queries

·         Perform weekly and daily bank reconciliations

·         Respond to accounting queries raised by colleagues e.g. supplier payment status, confirmation of invoices posted, costs updated etc.

·         Process monthly General Ledger journals for prepayment, accruals, depreciation etc.

·         Handle petty cash

·         Ad hoc reconciliations and data analysis assignments

·         Other general accounting duties
