Sammon Team Participates In Mark Heffernan Trust Golf Classic

Sammon Group actively participated in the Mark Heffernan Trust Golf Classic which took place on 17th September at Esker Hills Golf Club, Tullamore, Ireland. The event, organised throughout the summer, was hailed a huge success by Trustee, Martin Heffernan with a turnout of forty two teams of four.

The Trust was established in April of 2010 following the sudden death of Mark Heffernan in January 2008 from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). This silent killer attacks young adults of between the ages of 15 and 40 and amounts to between 60 and 80 deaths per annum in Ireland.

Sammon Group supports the Trust regularly throughout the year with sponsorship of events such as the annual Golf Classic and through individual’s participation in events such as Flora Ladies Womens Mini marathon in which Fiona Reid participated.

The Mark Heffernan Trust was established with a number of goals in mind, namely: to inform the general public of this fatal condition, to assist in the supply of defibrillators to schools and colleges nationwide, to support those affected by SADS, to fund further research in to causes of SADS, and most importantly, possible preventative measures.

The event was sponsored by a wide variety of patrons, with many visitors enjoying the beautiful course at Esker Hills. Each participant was treated to a wonderfully maintained course, followed by dinner in the clubhouse and a prize giving ceremony that evening.

The Trustees would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to all the local and national companies and individuals that sponsored the event and assisted in its success. A perpetual trophy carved from bog oak and commissioned by MCOH Architects was presented to overall winners and local team, Willie O’Shea, Mark Dunne, Jimmy Bracken and Dermot Heffernan by Mr Patrick O’Hora (Trustee) and Mr. Conor Finnegan, partners at MCOH.
