Mark Heffernan Trust Participates In Women’s Mini Marathon
As in 2010, Sammon employees participated in the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon held in Dublin on 6th June to raise money for the Mark Heffernan Trust.
The Trust was pleased it had 41 runners participating in the marathon that raised the much needed funds for the Mark Heffernan Trust. Sammon Contracting’s Fiona Reid and Theresa O’Connor completed the mini- marathon as part of the Trust team, a phenomenal achievement.
Over 40,000 women participated in the 29th edition of the marathon, which was organised in Dublin for the first time in 1983. The Women’s Mini-Marathon is the world’s biggest female-only race and women of all ages are taking part, many to raise money for charitable causes.
The Trust’s participation in the mini-marathon was organised by Martin Heffernan, Trustee of the Mark Heffernan Trust and Group Business Development Director, Sammon Group, Shane Heffernan, Data Analyst, Sammon Contracting and Mark Cronin, Bids and Marketing, Sammon Contracting.
The Mark Heffernan Trust was established in April of 2010 following the sudden death of Mark Heffernan in January 2008 from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). This silent killer attacks young adults of between the ages of 15 and 40 and amounts to between 60 and 80 deaths per annum in Ireland.
Sammon Group supports the Trust regularly throughout the year with sponsorship of events such as the annual Golf Classic and through individual’s participation in events such as the mini-marathon.
